Since the table is still "up" from last week's game, I decided to take a few more pictures, with all the clutter removed.
Most toy soldiers are 42mm from irregular Miniatures, but there are a few old Schneider flat figures, and even some older ones from unknown manufacturers (so far).
Very old (yet unidentified) toy soldiers - still untouched in their original paintjobs.
I really really like those toy soldiers and actually think they look better than modern 28mm. Others will just say "different", I suppose ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's an acquired taste ;-) let's say 10 years ago I wasn't yet "ready" for the classic toy soldier look, but as you grow older, you're more comfortable with ignoring the mainstream and just do whatever you like to see on your own wargaming table.
DeleteThat's probably true. I seem to be on a similar trajectory, moving away from mainstream 28mm esthetics to something more stylized. Clean "readable" sculpts and painting styles rather than clutter. It helps if you're providing all the miniatures for the game :-)
