More Scifi Humans

To be featutred in one or our upcoming Antares 2401 games, more human warriors.

These are from Mantic Games, from their Warpath range.

They are painted rather quickly: primed; a light brown coat, a dark brown wash, guns boltgun metal, visors black with green highlight, faces flesh and a flesh wash. Very quick paintjobs like these are ideal for miniatures which are quickly needed, and will perhaps grace the table only once every year. The alternative is that they will lie unpainted on the heap.

The images are not of too high quality. I should reshoot them, but then the miniatures were already sotred away when I noticed the photos were not very sharp.

Artillery Fire Markers

In our ACW house rules, we often use some sort of marker to indicate an artillery gun has fired. So far, we have used cotton wool as a visual marker. At Crisis earlier this month, I purchased some markers from Early War Miniatures (range here). The results shown below.

In no particular order, and without comments, a couple of pictures from our game at CRISIS 2014.

Look what I got this weekend ...

When I played WFB 3rd edition during the late eighties, early nineties, I always wanted to have the Warhammer Fortress. I fell out of love with Warhammer since 4th edition, but the Oldhammer craze has rekindled my interest.

At the Crisis convention this past weekend, I suddenly saw the fortress for sale at one of the trade stands, in quasi-mint condition (including the plastic doors, ladders, etc), at a very reasonable price as well.

In the blogpost listing all our Crisis games since 1998, the ACW game we staged in 2000 was pictureless. Thanks to the efforts of long-time contributor Bart Dils, a couple of pictures were recovered. This game was constructed by Bart Dils and Bart Vetters.

Venusian Infantry

Here's my latest paintjob. Some quick and dirty painted figures from Blue Moon Manufacturing, from their Aliens and Spacemen range. These particular figures are Venusian Infantry, and might see some action in one of our future Antares 2401 games.

Drakenslag: more painted dragons

A few more painted Dragons, that will feature in our convention game "Drakenslag" at CRISIS this coming weekend. All figures are from Reaper - Bones range.

Jealous ...

I am currently painting up some miniatures for our upcoming covention game, to be staged at CRISIS in a few weeks.

On the painting desk are a few of the Reaper miniatures I acquired from their Kickstarter campaign last year. I went to take a look at the Reaper website for some painting examples. Two figures in particular, the Large Earth Elemental, and the Spirit of the Forest, both currently on my painting desk, made me almost give up on painting. The painted examples are so well done, that in those few seconds looking at them, I really had an existential crisis (pun!) about my painting skills.

But, after those few seconds, I realized there's no point in putting the paintbrush down forever. I might never that level of sophistication, but at least the figures that will grace my table will my painted figures. And that is worth a lot.
