Hyboria (2)

Here's the 2nd installment of Tony Bath's series of articles on his Hyboria campaign that were published in Battle for Wargamers (see here for an index).

This article contains a description of the character generation system, something that was a precursor to character generation in later roleplaying games, and is again testimony of the many radical ideas that Tony Bath pioneered.

  1. I was only re reading the entire series the other night. I was fascinated by Hyboria and was very envious of the set up.

    1. An inspiring campaign, and a good example what wargaming can achieve ... I think it also helped that he was limited to what he had available. Current wargamers are too spoiled. We jump for ruleset to ruleset, and from period to period, such that a long effort as Hyboria seems very remote now.
